PREPARATIONS FOR ATTENDING SERVICES
A. PREPARE YOUR HEART:
The heart of the biblical message is the good news of God's salvation through the risen Lord Jesus Christ and His atoning death on the Cross for our sins.
B. COME IN THE SPIRIT OF PILGRIMAGE:
In our proclamation of the Gospel we recognize the urgency of calling all to the decision to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and to do so lovingly and without coercion or manipulation.
We need and desire to be filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit as we bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ because God alone can turn sinners from their sin and bring them to everlasting life.
We are responsible to the Church, and will endeavor always to conduct our lives so as to build up and not tear down the local body of believers and serve the Church at large.
C. SUGGESTED STEPS:
1. Examination of conscience--Repentance of known sin--Sacrament of Reconciliation (if Catholic)
2. Invite Jesus into your heart.
3. Pray for others.
4. Sacrifice or fast accordingly (and as health permits)
5. Meditate on the Word of God to increase the gift of your faith or read Scripture stories.
6. Be open to receiving a religious experience.
7. Give praise to God for His great love.
8. Introduce Christ to the world through your respective vocations.
B. SINNERS PRAYER:
Dear Lord Jesus:
I know that I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness. I believe that you died for my sins. I now invite you to come into my heart and life. I want to trust You as my Savior and follow You as Lord, in the fellowship of Your Church.
